Stress and Your Spouse
…or significant other.
As you likely know well, dealing with a lot of stress is no fun. If you are like me, your significant other being under a lot of stress can be even worse.
In today’s society, there are a lot of reasons to be stressed. It isn’t always easy to release that stress. Sure there are yoga classes, meditation times, and massages, but not everyone has the time and/or the money to do all that.
But sometimes, a little show of love can be just the thing to help your loved one.
If you have a stressed out significant other and would like to help him/her, here are a few tips to make things a bit easier on the one you love:
1. Ask him/her what they need/want. It may sound simple, but even just asking can make your partner feel loved and thought about. S/he might just need some space to get work done, but the fact you asked could mean everything.
2. Prepare a reward. If your partner has a big project to complete, prepare a little something for your partner to enjoy when s/he finishes.
3. Check in. Don’t check in so much that your partner will get annoyed, but a check in every now and then (perhaps bearing gifts like a snack or something yummy to drink) gives your partner a breath away from the project. (Just be careful not to be too much of a distraction if your partner says s/he is on a roll.)
