My Proposal Story
I’m a lucky woman in many ways. One way, though, is because my husband proposed twice.
We met online, but it was still very love-filled from the beginning. We flirted, we laughed, and we spent many hours every day talking to each other. It was pretty much understood from early on that, though it would take a while, we would both save up so we could meet and eventually try living together.
My hubby wanted things to be special when he proposed, so he didn’t propose online because it just wasn’t the same. I understood he wanted to marry me and I wanted to marry him as well. I wanted a proposal, but I also wanted it to be special.
Unfortunately, due to the manipulations of an ex-friend of ours, hubby thought I was upset that he didn’t propose. Despite the deception by the other person, it was a beautiful proposal that made me very happy and him as well.
We went through good times and bad times after that, but we stuck it through. I flew out here to meet him and there was no question as of whether or not we would stay together.
We got to talking about marriage a couple months after I arrived. We had some limitations because of visas and such, but I made sure we got married when I was ready. I didn’t even think of proposals or anything like that because it was as if we had already been married a long time and were just making things legal.
One night I was sitting in a chair with my laptop and hubby was at his computer. There wasn’t anything particularly special about the night, and I wasn’t really paying attention to him. Suddenly he said, “Oh” and looked over at me.
He spun around and knelt in front of me, grinning like an idiot. He then asked me if I would marry him.
I nodded and smiled and we both went back to our work with goofy grins on our faces. It may not have been the most spectacular of proposals, but it was utterly perfect for us.
